Warehouse Robot Control UI: A Concept for Missions and Manual Drive

A warehouse robot control UI has to handle two situations that pull in opposite directions. Most of the time, the robots work on their own, moving goods, inspecting areas and repeating the same logistics tasks. But sometimes something unexpected happens, and a person needs to step in and take over. The interface has to support both without forcing the operator to switch tools.

This concept brings live camera feeds, mission tracking, robot health, fleet performance and manual navigation into one control screen. The aim is to make a highly technical robotic system feel understandable and responsive, without hiding any of the information operators rely on.

Inside the warehouse robot control UI

Autonomous and manual in one place. Operators can watch active missions, check each robot’s status, look at live footage from the floor and switch to manual control when a task needs more precision. Supervision and intervention happen in the same space, so moving from one to the other feels like a natural next step, not a context switch.

Real-time mission tracking. At the center of the screen is a live view of what the robots are doing. Operators can see which robots are active, what task each one is on, where it is and whether any mission needs attention. Mission status, progress, current activity and system conditions are arranged in a clear order, so the important information is always the easiest to find.

Live video and remote control. When autonomous navigation isn’t enough, operators can drive a robot themselves. A live camera feed shows the view from the robot, and built-in joystick controls allow precise movement. This helps most in tight spaces, unusual situations or tasks that need human judgment. Key telemetry stays on screen next to the video, so operators never drive blind to the robot’s condition.

Robot health at a glance. Reliable automation depends on more than finished missions. The screen keeps an eye on each robot’s battery level and remaining operating time, load stability and payload condition, connectivity, mission progress, availability, task success rates, and any warnings or unusual behavior. Problems show up early, before they slow down the rest of the warehouse.

Built for fast decisions

The main challenge is balancing a lot of information with the need to read it quickly. When several robots are working at once, an operator may have only seconds to react.

So the interface follows a strong hierarchy. Mission-critical states and warnings come first. Secondary telemetry is still there for anyone who wants to dig deeper, but it doesn’t compete for attention.

Live video, fleet information, navigation controls and robot health each have their own clearly separated area. They still belong to the same view, so the operator gets a fast overview without the workflow breaking into pieces.

More than isolated machines

The bigger idea is to stop treating autonomous robots as separate machines that each need their own tool. Here, the whole fleet sits in one control layer. Operators can understand how the fleet is behaving, keep track of performance and step in when needed, all from the same screen.

Ideas to borrow

Make taking control one step away. Switching from watching a robot to driving it should feel natural, not like opening another app.

Keep telemetry next to the video. Battery and connection status beside the camera feed stop operators from driving blind.

Put warnings first. When several robots are active, the problem should be the most visible thing on the screen.

Separate the areas, but keep them in one view. Clear zones for video, fleet, controls and health help people scan without getting lost.

Show health before it becomes a failure. Battery, load and connectivity trends warn the team before a robot stops mid-task.

A single interface for monitoring, managing and controlling the robotic systems behind modern logistics.
